I’m a year-round rainyside gardener living in Portland, Oregon.  I have a small gardening business called Garden By Cycle that allows me to plant and tend gardens and get paid for it!   I am committed to a fossil-fuel free gardening business, so I use only hand tools and in most cases do my work by bike.  Check out my web site for more information on my business.   I hope to share some ideas about urban gardening, edible and sustainable landscapes and permaculture through this blog.  What I’m learning is that frugal gardening and sustainable landscapes go hand-in-hand. For new gardeners the act of creating a garden might appear to be a huge financial drain–a money pit for expenditures on soil amendments and plants–impossible expenditures for many.  But gardening that nourishes the soil and the spirit using recycled materials, composting, and other strategies of sharing and reusing resources is truly possible!!!!  It’s not necessary to break the bank to have an abundant and beautiful garden.
